This road remains a 40mph speed limit road which appears to be a legacy from when it was the main arterial route in and out of Manchester. Given the adjacent bypass the speed limit is inappropriate and unnecessary. It should be reduced to 30mph to improve safety of cyclists using the road (and pushed into the 40mph traffic flow by cars parked in the unenforced cycle lane) as well as pedestrians crossing the road unsighted by the parked cars.
