I'm not sure what the legal status of this route is but you can open the gate to reach the quieter service road. This is a useful shortcut if you're headed west, toward Lymn.

This footway has recently been cleared of overgrowth and, while not a legal cycle lane, is a very useful means of cycling between Linnards Lane and Plumley Moor Road without using the carriageway (which is quite dangerous).
Knutsford - cycle parking corner of King St and Hillside road Could do with signage to say what it is.
Towers Road - a great quiet (but indirect) alternative to the 'mad mile' into Poynton from Stockport.
There is parking for over 200 cycles on platforms 5, 6 and 11 at Crewe station, as well as a small covered rack outside transport police HQ on Pedley St. Do not leave panniers on, they are deemed a security risk.
